The ITEC Knights seamer, Gerald Coetzee, is excited about the prospect of going to Australia next month for the series of three Tests.

The 22-year-old Coetzee is the only new face in the Proteas squad, but his pace and aggressive nature of fast bowling are tailor-made for the seam-friendly Australian wickets.

This will be Coetzee’s second trip aboard with the senior national side after recently touring England in a successful T20 International series.

Coetzee has represented South Africa at an U19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and in South Africa, while earlier in the year he impressed for South Africa A against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Coetzee told OFM Sport that going to Australia for a Test series is the stuff of dreams.

"I'm very honoured and excited to be a part of the Test squad," said the fiery fast bowler.

"It's been a dream of mine since I was very young, specifically to play Test cricket and especially touring Australia, which is a very proud cricketing nation.

"It's a fast bowler's paradise in a sense. It's like the perfect story and I am very excited.

"I'm excited to go and learn and play with the Proteas bowling attack which is one of the best in the world. I just want to go there as a sponge and soak up everything.

"It's something that I'm very much looking forward to."

Coetzee will be in action for the Knights starting Thursday against the Titans at SuperSport Park in Centurion in round two of the CSA 4-Day series.

The first Test between top ranked Australia and second ranked South Africa will begin on 17 December at the Gabba in Brisbane.
