No play possible in Bloemfontein on Day 1─── MORGAN PIEK 08:22 Mon, 13 Feb 2023
No play was possible in Bloemfontein on Sunday on day one of the CSA 4-Day game between the ITEC Knights and Lions at the Mangaung Oval.
The 4-Day series resumed yesterday with three matches across the country, however, due to all the rain in Bloemfontein, no play was possible.
For the Knights, a positive result is vitally important as promotion-relegation is coming into play at the conclusion of the season and the team from Bloemfontein is in real danger of getting bumped down to Division 2.
Meanwhile, in Potchefstroom at the JB Marks Oval, the Paarl Rocks were on 120 for 5 at stumps after play started late due to a wet outfield.
Isma-Eel Gafieldien scored 32 runs for the Rocks, while Clyde Fortuin was unbeaten at 21 when the close of play was called.
In the third match that got under way yesterday, the Dolphins trailed Western Province by 121 runs at Kingsmead. The home team bowled Province out for 210 runs and at the close of play, they were on 89/3.
Edward Moore scored 51 runs for the team from Cape Town, while Jonathan Bird contributed 29 runs.
The spinner Prenelan Subrayen was the pick of the Dolphins bowlers with 3/62 in 21.3 overs. The other spinners, Keshav Maharaj and Bryce Parsons, each bagged two scalps for the home team.
At the close of play in Durban, Slade van Staden and the captain, Khaya Zondo, were the men at the crease on 19* and 16* respectively.
