Yesterday, the Rocks won the toss and had a bat first on a flat Boland Park pitch.

However, 5/67 in 24.4 overs by the spinning all-rounder Aubrey Swanepoel led to the home team being bowled out for 212 runs.

At the close of play, the Knights were on 99/3 with the opening batter, Matthew Kleinveldt, unbeaten on 50.

Swanepoel told OFM Sport that it’s a matter of digging in with the bat on Monday.

"It was a good day in Paarl and the guys rocked up for the match," said the player who captained the team earlier in the season.

"Losing the toss and being put in to bowl was not quite easy on a flat deck. The wicket was quite slow for the seamers. I'm really chuffed with the five-for.

"I think it is going to be a big day on Monday. If we can bat well and get a big lead and hopefully our bowlers can rock up in the second innings.

"We definitely want to leave our mark in the four-day competition, but I think it's key that we have a good team day on Monday and we bat deep.

"The guys must just step-up and someone needs to take it deep with Matt, who is on fifty already.

"I'm really hoping that the team can pull through with a big batting display on Monday."

Day two at Boland Park is set to start this morning at 10:00.
