The Itec Knights batter, Matthew Kleinveldt, starred with the bat in Paarl on Monday on day two of the CSA 4-Day series game against the Rocks.

Kleinveldt carried his bat throughout the innings to finish on 199* as the Knights were dismissed for 493 runs.

Kleinveldt hit 18 fours in his patient inning, which lasted 389 balls.

The opening batter was well supported by the Proteas wicketkeeper, Gihahn Cloete, who in turn scored 122 runs.

Kleinveldt told OFM Sport that it is always great to reach milestones in one’s career, but the team always comes first, and for the Knights, a win will always be more important.

"It's good to get milestones and reach the highest score and things like that, but at the end of the day, we still need to win this game and there is still a lot to do within," said the cousin of the former Proteas seamer, Rory Kleinveldt.

"Just putting the team in some sort of position to do that is more important than personal milestones.

"We are looking forward to the next couple of days as we chase the victory. There is still a lot of work that lies ahead, so we can't get too excited just yet."

The former Knights leg-spinner, Shaun von Berg, was the pick of the Rocks bowlers with 5/101 in 24 overs.

The Rocks will begin their second inning at Boland Park at 10:00 on Tuesday. They trail the Knights by 281 runs.
