“So, hopefully they don't get too many runs, but it will be exciting to see them live.”

The Australian batter, Travis Head, looks forward to the opportunity to play against the much-talked-about Dewald Brevis and the other South African youngster in the upcoming T20 International series against the Proteas.

Brevis is one of several young and upcoming South African cricketers named in the Proteas squad with the others including Gerald Coetzee, Donovan Ferreira, Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs.

The Aussies also have a host of debutants who will mainly get a chance because of injuries to the likes of Pat Cummins and Steve Smith, while players like David Warner are being rested.

Head told OFM Sport that it’s exciting to see young players being used by both teams for the upcoming series.

“I've seen a little bit of Brevis with some of the format stuff that has been around,” said the Australia top-order batter.

“There are some new names there and it's always exciting. I think we are similar with missing some of number one names and it gives guys a great opportunity.

“There's a World Cup next year in this format and it feels like both countries have got guys that are going to get a crack, especially those two guys (Brevis and Ferreira) have been around the mark within domestic and franchise cricket.

“So, hopefully they don't get too many runs, but it will be exciting to see them live.”

Wednesday night’s 1st T20 International at Kingsmead in Durban gets underway at 18:00.
