The Proteas will be looking to the basics well when they face Australia in Potchefstroom tomorrow in the third One-Day International.

The Proteas will need to win Tuesday’s game if they are to stand any chance of winning the series. A defeat in this game will earn Australia a series win.

Last week Australia beat the Proteas by three-wickets and by 127-runs at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

South Africa has played in Potchefstroom eleven times in the past with their only defeat being in in 2015 when they lost to New Zealand by eight wickets. One game ended in a tie (Australia, 2002), while on match also produced a no result (New Zealand, 2000).

The destructive batter, Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 14 and 49 in Bloemfontein, said Australia are doing the basics a lot better than them in the point in time.

“For us it's about getting back to the basics,” said Klaasen.

“We need to do our basics well and raise our intensity a little bit. We've won 3-0 before and if I remember correctly the last game was in Potch as well.

“For us it's a good challenge to be under a little bit of pressure now and to see if we can go three-nil in the next three games to win the series.

“There is a lot to play for and obviously there is a lot of momentum we want to take into the World Cup as well.”

Tuesday’s ODI at the JB Marks Oval gets underway at 13:00.
