“It's about us coming here tomorrow with positive mindsets, taking confidence that we can take, but understanding that we have to replicate that all again to hopefully get a good result.”

The Proteas and Bangladesh go head-to-head on Tuesday at the ICC Cricket World Cup in India in what will be an important game from both teams.

South Africa will be confident and will want to build on their momentum following their brilliant 229-run win against England in Mumbai on Saturday.

The Proteas regular skipper, Temba Bavuma, is set for a return after illness ruled him out of the match against England. It’s unfortunate for the former Knight, Reeza Hendricks, as he will have to make way for Bavuma, despite scoring 85 against the Three Lions.

South Africa will make a call on the fitness of Bavuma in the morning.

The Proteas are expected to record back-to-back wins and move up to second in the standings with a victory, however, Aiden Markram, who was the skipper on the weekend, said it’s a good opportunity, but they must respect the Tigers.

“The game a couple of nights ago against England was a good game for us, but you still have to respect the fact that it's a new game of cricket starting tomorrow and against opposition that's become a really good white ball team and then put them into subcontinent conditions, obviously that aids them very well as well.

“We have to respect that fact. You can never take form as an individual or as a team for granted. It's about us coming here tomorrow with positive mindsets, taking confidence that we can take, but understanding that we have to replicate that all again to hopefully get a good result.”

Bangladesh in turn will want to return to winning ways after a seven-wicket defeat at the hand of India in Pune on Thursday. A win against the Proteas will be tough, but it is something that is not unlikely, and they will believe they can do it again.

A win for the Tigers will see them break into the top four on the table and this will put pressure on the likes of New Zealand and Pakistan.

The Bangladeshi captain, Shakib Al Hasan, said it’s important not to look too far ahead.

“We have to take one game at a time you know it in a World Cup it doesn't matter whether you won your last game or you lost your last game. What matters is on the day who is performing better.

“We saw South Africa flying high, we saw they lost against the Netherlands as well. They played brilliantly against England.

“That does mean that this thing does happen in cricket, especially in the World Cup. So, we will prepare the way we want to prepare ourselves. So, we want to play our best cricket and then we will see where we are.”

Play at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai gets underway at 10:30.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan pulled off another big upset last night by beating the top-ranked Pakistan by 8 wickets in Chennai.

Pakistan were restricted to 282/7 in their 50 overs with the captain Babar Azam scoring 74, while Noor Ahmad took 3/49.

In reply, Ibrahim Zadran scored 87 and Rahmat Shah scored 77 as Afghanistan chased down the target with an over to spare.

Earlier in the World Cup, Afghanistan beat England by six-wickets.
