Piedt spins South Africa to victory─── MORGAN PIEK 14:21 Fri, 01 Dec 2023

The ITEC Knights spinner, Dane Piedt, led South Africa ‘A’ to a series-levelling victory on Friday against the West Indies ‘A’ at Buffalo Park in East London.
South Africa needed to take five-wickets on day four of the second unofficial Test to level the series and set up a showdown for next week in Bloemfontein.
Needing 442-runs in their second innings to win the team and take an unassailable 2-0 lead, the Windies resumed their innings on 134/5 on Friday morning.
In less than an hour and a half of play, they were bundled out for 209-runs with Piedt taking 6/79 to lead the charge with the ball for South Africa.
Zachary McCaskie top-scored for the team from the Caribbean with 50-runs before being trapped lbw by Piedt. The next highest score was 34-runs by Tevin Imlach before being run out by the former Knight, Raynard van Tonder.
Piedt’s six-wicket haul took his tally to eleven for the unofficial Test after taking 5/28 in the first innings. Piedt now has 15 wickets in the bank for the series.
He has announced himself as a strong contender for a recall to the Proteas Test team for the series against India and tour to New Zealand.
The third and final unofficial Test gets underway on Tuesday at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
