“We felt that the batters won us the first two, and today we can say thanks to the bowlers. 122 was below par on this wicket and we will take the bonus point. I must give all the credit to the bowlers today.”

The ITEC Knights are back on track in Division 2 of the CSA T20 Challenge following a six-wicket win against the Eastern Storm in Bloemfontein on Wednesday.

The Knights were a lot more clinical with their bowling as well as batting, while there was also a sharpness in the field that lacked during the 20-run defeat to the Limpopo Impalas on Sunday.

The Storm had a bat first at the Mangaung Oval and were bowled out for 122-runs in 191. overs. Aron Visser top-scored for the visitors from Benoni with 42-runs, while Kabelo Sekhukhune scored 27, and Shaylin Pillay contributed with 20.

The Knights seamer, Sithembile Langa, was the chief destroyer for the Knights with 3/14 in his 4-overs, while the Proteas spinner, Dane Piedt, took 2/23 in his 4-overs.

Another Protea, Gihahn Cloete, led the charge with the bat by carrying his bat throughout the innings to finish in 73 not out. Cloete hit 11 fours and a six in his innings.

Jacques Snyman and Dian Forrester each scored 20-runs as the Knights chased down the take in 15.3 overs.

The Knights captain, Aubrey Swanepoel, told OFM Sport that the bowlers won the game for them.

“At the start of the week the guys had plans with the ball. We felt that the batters won us the first two, and today we can say thanks to the bowlers,” said Swanepoel.

“122 was below par on this wicket and we will take the bonus point. I must give all the credit to the bowlers today.”

The Knights need just one win from their two remaining games to secure their spot in the semi-finals.

On Sunday the Knights will face the Mpumalanga Rhinos at Uplands College in White River.
