The ITEC Knights will be targeting the Division 2 semi-finals of the CSA T20 Challenge on Sunday when they face the Mpumalanga Rhinos in White River.

A win on Sunday will be enough for the Knights to secure their place in the last four of the competition as they hunt for a first piece of silverware this season after losing in the respective finals of the One-Day Cup as well as the 4-Day series.

More importantly, a win on Sunday could possibly secure their promotion back up to Division 1 for next season, but this requires a result going in their favour when the Eastern Cape Iinyathi face the Northern Cape Heat at Buffalo Park in East London.

The bad news however is that there is a lot of rain predicted for White River on Sunday and this can complicate matters for the team from Bloemfontein.

As matters stand, the Limpopo Impalas top the table on 14 points, while the Knights are in second on 13 and Heat are in third with 9.

On Sunday the Impalas will play away to the Eastern Storm in Benoni, and a win for the hosts will see them remain in the hunt for the playoffs.

The Knights captain, Aubrey Swanepoel, told OFM Sport that the focus is only on the Rhinos as they look to secure their spot in the semi-finals.

“We take it one game at a time and for now the focus is on the match against Mpumalanga,” said the allrounder.

“Our plans and our processes will stay the same. One more win should get us into the semi-finals, but we'd like to take two more in the group stages.”

All of Sunday’s games are scheduled to get underway at 13:00.
