“Momentum is always good, and with the World Cup coming up in September, it'll be very good for us if we can maybe claim a 3-0 win. If we can look at doing that, that'll be great for the team.”

The Proteas Women will be using Saturday’s second T20 International against Sri Lanka in Potchefstroom to help prepare for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

South Africa leads the three-match T20I series 1-0 following a convincing 79-run win during Wednesday’s rain-interrupted series opener at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

There is little cricket for the national women’s team before the World Cup in September and each game will be of the utmost importance.

The former North West batter, Tazmin Brits, who is set to play in her 50th T20 International for South Africa  on Saturday said momentum is always good.

“Momentum is always good, and with the World Cup coming up in September, it'll be very good for us if we can maybe claim a 3-0 win.

“If we can look at doing that, that'll be great for the team.

“We seemed to be losing the first T20I or the first game of every series that we've played, so that was one of the things we wanted to correct.

“That was also with different combinations and getting to those points that we were setting, like the powerplay and everything. It was great.”

The second T20 International at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom is scheduled to get underway at 14:00 on Saturday afternoon.
