“It's quite nice to know that your path is still laid out in front of you and the whole squad has got the bit between the teeth to make it happen and get us into the semi-finals.”

The North West Dragons are confident that they can get the job done when they face Western Province in Potchefstroom on Friday night in the CSA T20 Challenge.

Although the Dragons have won just two games, they are mathematically still in for a shout at the semi-finals, although the three rained out games definitely dented their chances.

A win against the One-Day Cup champions will keep their chances alive as the backend of the competition approaches.

The Dragons batter and wicketkeeper, Rubin Hermann, told OFM Sport they are up for the challenge.

“It's quite exciting to know that there is still an opportunity for us to get into the semi-finals,” said the tournament's leading run-scorer.

“It's quite nice to know that your path is still laid out in front of you and the whole squad has got the bit between the teeth to make it happen and get us into the semi-finals.

“The plan is quite clear and the route quite clear, which is also nice, so it's very exciting times indeed.

“We're got squad and people in place to get the job done, so I'm really looking forward to the conclusion of our tournament.”

The Dragons will however be without their star bowler Migael Pretorius for the remainder of the tournament. The former Knights seamer is the joint leading wicket-taker with 15 scalps along with another former player from the Free State, Beyers Swanepoel, of the Warriors.

Pretorius has gone to England where he is going to play county cricket for Somerset.

Friday night’s important game at the JB Marks Oval gets underway at 18:00.
