The seasoned former Proteas left-arm spinner, Aaron Phangiso, is set to join the ITEC Knights in Bloemfontein for the 2024/25 domestic cricket season, albeit he turned 40-years-old in January.

The former Proteas spin bowler, Aaron Phangiso, is set to join the ITEC Knights in Bloemfontein for the 2024/25 domestic cricket season, albeit he turned 40-years-old in January.

Phangiso will be leaving the Titans at the end of the current season which will conclude next week with the final of the CSA T20 Challenge.

Phangiso has previously been a stalwart of Lions cricket, while year’s ago he was set to play score cricket in Bloemfontein.

Phangiso was picked by the Bloem Blazers years ago for the Global T20, however, the actual tournament never materialised due to various off-field and behind the scenes issues, which included broadcasting rights.

The Knights are playing in Division 1 again next season and they are in the process of contracting some additional players to bolster their squad.

The name of the North West Dragons white-ball captain, Senuran Muthusamy, has also been mentioned, and it is believed that he could be swapping Potchefstroom for Bloemfontein. The Proteas cricketers’ contract expires at the conclusion of the season and it is reported that he will be moving on.

Muthusamy is set to play in his last game for the Dragons on Sunday when they face Paarl Rocks at Boland Paal in the final round of the T20 Challenge.

Johan van Dyk - CSA

It is also believed that the in-form seamer Johan van Dyk of the Northern Cape Heat will be heading back to Bloemfontein. Van Dyk was born-and-bred in Bloemfontein and he made his first-class debut for the Free State back in 2015.
