The Proteas are set to play in their first Super 8’s game at the ICC T20 World Cup in Antigua on Wednesday and they will be looking to hit the reset button.

The Proteas are going to go up against the co-hosts, the USA, in what could be a tricky game especially taking into the account that their opponents have beaten teams such as Pakistan.

The Proteas are still unbeaten after winning all four of their group games, but it certainly hasn’t been plain sailing for South Africa.

The Proteas captain Aiden Markram said they have hit the reset button going into the Super 8’s.

“Yeah, we are still striving for that close to perfect game,” said Markram.

“I thought our bowlers so far throughout the comp have been really good for us and potentially bailed us out of jail once or twice.

“But it's understandably so – the conditions have been quite tough for us with the bat, and like I said at the start, now it's a fresh start for us.

“Specifically, if you speak as a batting group, we get the chance to get to new conditions, hopefully slightly more batting friendly for us, and a good time for us to start peaking and finding some form moving forward in the competition.”

Markram added that it’s important not to look further ahead than the game against the USA, and the focus is only on recording a fifth-straight victory.

“We have not watched much cricket to be very honest with you, it's been it's been pretty busy, but you catch a few highlights here and there.

“It looks pretty explosive - so a good seam attack, couple of good spinners and then an explosive batting order that any one of those guys on their day can make life really difficult for you.

“So, trying to have plans in place to combat that, to keep them quiet and ultimately to get them out as well.

“But again, a fantastic opportunity and exciting challenge for the USA.

This match at North Sound gets underway at 16:30 on Wednesday.
