Several tents serving as voting stations across the province have been blown away, forcing the Independent Electoral Commission to launch urgent contingency measures.
Several stations had to be relocated to permanent structures, where those are available within the affected voting districts.
Where no permanent structures were available, the tents were re-erected and voting will be allowed to continue till all people have been assisted.
This is what Provincial Electoral Officer, Jabulani Tshabalala, said to the media in Bloemfontein.
Earl Coetzee and Refilwe Gaeswe report that more than 42 temporary voting stations in the Free State have been affected by poor weather conditions, and had to be moved or re-erected.
In total 25 of the affected voting stations are located in Maluti-a-Phofung; 11 in Dihlabeng; 5 in Phumelela; 3 in Setsoto and 3 in Mangaung.
