Professional golfer, Dean Burmester, has welcomed the governments’ announcement that non-contact sport may resume on Monday when Level 3 of the national lockdown kicks in.

As is the case with all other sporting codes golf was also suspended two months ago due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The 30-year-old Zimbabwean-born European Tour winner told OFM Sport that it has been a frustrating two months and he cannot wait to tee it up again,

“I think I am obviously a bit biased because I am a golfer, but I am sure than other sportsmen and women are just as frustrated as I am.

“It’s a long and tough two months. The best feedback you can get is seeing the ball flying off of the clubface towards the green, fairway, or anything like that.

“It has been kind of tricky practicing in my garden, but luckily for technology, we have quite a few things we can use to our advantage these days.”

Burmester, who grew up in Bloemfontein, now resides and plays out of George in the Western Cape.
