Viljoen ready to get back into the swing of things─── MORGAN PIEK 08:49 Wed, 01 Jul 2020
The Sunshine Tour is set to announce a revised calendar as they target mid-August for the resumption of competitive golf in South Africa.
Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, there has been no competitive golf in March, and the professionals are itching to get out on the course.
A handful of South Africans have been playing on the PGA Tour, but the majority are waiting for the Sunshine Tour to resume.
Tour professional, MJ Viljoen of Bloemfontein, told OFM Sport that the lockdown gave him time to fine-tune his game.
“The lockdown wasn’t too bad for me. My coach, Hendrik Buhrman, and I worked very hard.
“We’ve been working on my golf swing for the past two years now and this gave me an opportunity to get all the twigs out, just focus on everything that is wrong and fix it.
“Hopefully that kicks in, and that makes me even more excited to get out and play.”
Viljoen has also been using the down-time to update his private pilot's license.
