Viljoen ready to tee it up on Wednesday─── MORGAN PIEK 08:43 Tue, 18 Aug 2020
The Bloemfontein professional, MJ Viljoen, is ready to tee it up on Wednesday when competitive golf resumes with the first event of the Rise-Up Series on the Sunshine Tour.
The players will be competing for a purse of R600 000 during the Betway Championship at the Killarney Golf Club in Johannesburg.
The tournament will feature a full field of players, and they will have to adhere to strict safety regulations while playing.
Viljoen told OFM Sport that he is delighted that the long wait is finally over.
“It is about time”, said the player who is also a qualified pilot.
“It feels good to be traveling and being in a different part of the country again, so we are looking forward to it.
“We have been working hard on sharpening up on everything over the past couple of days.
“The tournaments resume just allows you to set some goals at least. It just gets your body and mind hyped up for everything again.
“The game is looking quite good, so I am looking forward to playing, and hopefully playing well.
“We will see how it goes.”
The tournament is the first of five 54-hole events which also marks the first domestic golf to be played in South Africa since the Dimension Data Pro-Am in February.
