A poor tee shot on the second play-off hole denied South Africa’s Justin Walters of a maiden European Tour victory during the UK Championship played at the ISPS Handa UK Championship at Belfry in England.
Walters who led the event from round one, finished on 14-under-par along with the 19-year-old Dane, Rasmus Højgaard, forcing the tournament into a play-off.
Walters fire his tee shot straight into a bunker, and he shanked his approach shot, which ultimately led to a bogey.
Despite missing out on the victory, Walters will be happy with the R2 million he bagged in the process.
Furthermore, he jumped 143 places int he Official World Golf Rankings to number 250 in the world.
It was the teenagers' second win on the European Tour, in just his 15th tournament, while Walters had to settle for second for a fourth time on the tour.
