Grace receives late US Open entry─── MORGAN PIEK 14:38 Mon, 14 Sep 2020
South Africa’s Branden Grace has been added to the field for the 120th US Open which tees off on Thursday at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York.
The 2020 South African Open champions’ late inclusion comes at the expense of the American, Scottie Scheffler, who has been withdrawn after testing positive for Covid-19.
“We are sorry to lose a member of the USGA family in this year’s U.S. Open field,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA senior managing director.
“Scottie has had a phenomenal rookie season and we look forward to welcoming him back to the U.S. Open Championship for many years to come.”
It’s the 8th time Grace will play in the major and his tie for fourth in 2015 was his best finish to date.
The other six South African's playing this week are Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Justin Harding, Shaun Norris, Louis Oosthuizen, J.C. Ritchie and Erik van Rooyen.
