Nienaber tees it up at the Italian Open this week─── MORGAN PIEK 09:41 Wed, 21 Oct 2020
Bloemfontein’s Wilco Nienaber is back in Europe and will be teeing it up at the Italian Open this week. He has enjoyed a good run on the European Tour this season, which has led to two top-ten finishes thus far.
Nienaber was back in the City of Roses for the last couple of weeks after finishing in a tie for 48th at the Irish Open at the end of September.
On Tuesday it was also confirmed that the Joburg Open next month will see international golf return to South Africa.
Nienaber told OFM Sport that he is ready to tee it up this week, and he looks forward to the upcoming Joburg Open.
“I finished my practice round and enjoyed the course, so I am looking forward to the Italian Open this week.
“It is a tournament that has served South Africans well in the past, and I am sure it will do the same for me.
“On the Joburg Open, that is great news and for a South African, it is even better. Just to have a nice event to play back home and just to be in South Africa again is going to be really nice.”
The 2020 Italian Open at the Chervò Golf Club in Brescia tees off on Thursday morning.
