The 22-year-old South African golf star, Garrick Higgo, is set to make his debut as a fully-fledged PGA Tour player on Thursday during the Travelers Championship in Connecticut.
Higgo has played in three PGA events which includes the PGA Championship and the US Open, while he won the Palmetto Open in South Carolina.
Speaking to OFM Sport TPC River Highlands, Higgo said that he and Bloemfontein’s Wilco Nienaber help each other wherever they can.
“We really like each other a lot and we are very good friends. Obviously, we want to beat each other but we don't really see it that way.
“I want him to do just as well as I want myself to do well.
“There is maybe a little bit of a rivalry, but it makes us play better. We learn from each other and always play practice rounds together.
“I ask him questions about how to hit it further and all that stuff, and he asks me questions and we just learn from each other's games.”
Nienaber made his PGA Tour debut at the Palmetto Open, while he played in a major for the first time during the US Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego.
Higgo tees off at 19:35 on Thursday evening.
