Oosthuizen was tipped to win his second Open Championship and major on Sunday after leading the 149th edition of the event at Royal St George's for the first three rounds.

The final round didn't go his way and ultimately had to settle for a share of third with John Rahm behind Jordan Spieth and the new champion, Collin Morikawa.

Rahm in his turn has been reinstalled as the number one player in the world. The Spanish star took the top-spot after beating Oosthuizen at the recent US Open at Torrey Pines.

Oosthuizen’s effort saw him moving up to 9th in the latest rankings.

Meanwhile, Dylan Frittelli, has broken back into the top 100 after finishing fifth at the Open.

This after he came in as a late replacement for Louis de Jager who was forced to withdraw after testing positive for Covid-19. Frittelli jumped from 106th in the rankings to 78th.
