Oosthuizen struggling with neck ahead of BMW Championship─── MORGAN PIEK 09:52 Thu, 26 Aug 2021
The world number seven, Louis Oosthuizen, will spearhead the South African charge this week at the BMW Championship in Maryland on the PGA Tour, but a neck niggle could be a telling factor.
Oosthuizen is the highest ranked of the four South Africans competing with the other being his good friend, Charl Schwartzel, Brandon Grace and Erik van Rooyen.
Speaking from Owings Mills, Oosthuizen said he is struggling with a neck issue.
“It was a bit of both, I'm not great year and I'm struggling with a bad neck. I walked the last four holes in the Pro-Am because I couldn't finish.
“It's not a good spot to be with my last few events. I tweaked it a little bit at Wyndham. I took most of the two weeks off when I didn't play.
“Played one round, hit a few balls I didn't really want to push it a lot. I played yesterday and felt okay. When I woke up this morning it was the same thing again.
“It's not a great spot where I am at, but hopefully I can sort a few things out with my physio over the next 24 hours.”
Oosthuizen is scheduled to tee off at 17:09 on Thursday afternoon at the Caves Valley Golf Club.
