The three-time European Tour winner, Hennie Otto, is relishing the opportunity to play in Bloemfontein for the first time in close to 21 years.

The 46-year-old Otto, who also has 13 Sunshine Tour wins to his name, is confirmed in the field for this week's inaugural co-sanctioned Mangaung Open.

The tournament that will be played at the Bloemfontein Golf Club, as well as the Schoeman Park Golf Club, is the first-ever international tournament in the City of Roses.

Otto told OFM Sport that it's great to have a big event in Bloemfontein.

“I must say that course is really looking nice and it's going to be an exciting week for us.

“It's a great venture that is going ahead and I also know that they have signed it on a three-year deal.

“It's nice that these smaller cities and lesser-known golf courses get the opportunities to be showcased on an international stage.

“It's a big milestone for golf.”

The Mangaung Open will tee off on Thursday morning.  Otto will tee it up on the 10th at the Bloemfontein Golf Club on Thursday morning at 7:33 for his opening round. He will play alongside fellow South African, Ruan Conradie, and Clément Sordet of France.

Meanwhile, the Bloemfontein local, Wilco Nienaber, will play from Thursday morning the 10th at Schoeman Park, along with JC Ritchie of South Africa and Christopher Mivis of Belgium.
