LIV Golf heads to South Africa in 2026─── MORGAN PIEK 10:24 Sat, 26 Jul 2025

Big news for golf in South Africa broke on Saturday morning with confirmation that the rebel series, LIV Golf, will be making its first-ever stop in the country.
LIV Golf has officially announced it will host a tournament in South Africa next year, with the historic event set to take place at the world-class Steyn City in Johannesburg.
Adding to the excitement, the fiercely competitive South African LIV team, the Stingers, will get the chance to play in front of their home fans for the first time in the series.

The Stingers team features four of the country’s top golfing exports in Louis Oosthuizen, Dean Burmester, Charl Schwartzel, and Branden Grace.
The captain of the Stingers and former Open champion, Oosthuizen, told OFM Sport he is thrilled to be bringing LIV Golf home.
“It’s always special to compete at home, and I’m incredibly proud to bring LIV Golf to South Africa for the first time.
“For Branden, Charl, Dean, and I to play in front of our fans, friends, and families will be an unforgettable experience.
“South African sports fans love their golf, and I’m sure they will come out in large numbers to support Stinger GC.”

“South Africa has given so much to us, and now we get to give something back.”
Minister of Sport, Gayton McKenzie – who, like Burmester, hails from Bloemfontein – said securing a LIV Golf event in South Africa is a major win for local sport.
“This is a special moment, as we announce the world’s most dynamic and innovative new golf format will make its historic debut in South Africa,” said McKenzie.

“It will be a proud occasion for our nation, showcasing our vibrant sporting culture and world-class hospitality to a global audience.
“The all-South African Stinger GC team is testament to our country’s rich golfing heritage. We need to get behind our boys as a nation when they’re playing here, so they can win their country’s inaugural tournament.
“Visitors will truly feel they’re in Africa – with Dinokeng Big 5 Reserve, home to lions and elephants, less than an hour from Steyn City. No other LIV event will come close to offering this kind of experience, and we believe global golf fans will want to add South Africa to their must-visit list.”

“LIV will also help popularise golf locally. I’m particularly excited about the daily concerts, which will be a great platform to showcase our top-tier, home-grown musical talent.
“We applaud LIV as an organisation for answering the call to include Africa on their calendar. If you want to be a truly global brand, this is what you need to do – and we want to see this from other sports too, from Formula One to the Summer Olympics.”
LIV Golf South Africa will take place at Steyn City from 20 to 22 March 2026.
