Burmester and Stingers fired up for LIV Golf Indianapolis─── MORGAN PIEK 08:14 Thu, 14 Aug 2025

The former Bloemfontein professional Dean Burmester heads into this week’s LIV Golf Indianapolis at The Club at Chatham Hills with renewed confidence to close out the season on a positive note with only two events remaining.
On Sunday (10/8), Burmester won the LIV Golf Chicago individual championship, securing his second title and pocketing just shy of R71 million.
The victory moved the Stingers GC player up to fourth in the overall standings, and he says it has done both his and the team’s confidence the world of good. It wasn’t just a big result for Burmester in the Windy City – the South African outfit, Stingers GC, also walked away with the team championship.
The former South African Open champion said the win came at exactly the right time for both him and the team, who needed a confidence boost. “A lot was going on in and around golf, and the team needed a lift. I needed one too.
“To be able to pull off a day like that, having to grind and then go to a playoff, was something I’m very proud of. I put that down to experience. I’ve won enough times in the professional game to know what it takes to lead from the front. That’s the most difficult way to win, because when you’re chasing, you’ve got nothing to lose.”

Burmester added that, as a team, they’ve made a few changes since their success in Illinois – opting to go back to their roots and do things the South African way.
“We’ve changed plans. We were staying in a hotel, but now we’re back in a house again – keeping the momentum going, having a good time, and enjoying each other’s company,” he said. “Back to braaiing and chatting about everyone’s day.”
The penultimate event of the season tees off from Friday to Sunday.
