Bloemfontein - A staff member at the Protea Hotel just outside Christiana says the fire making headlines this morning broke out at a privately owned establishment in the town and not at the Protea Hotel.
General manager Carlien Bronkhorst says everything is perfectly normal at the Protea hotel, which is located about 3km outside the town, and says guests can book in as scheduled.
Police are investigating a case of arson after a fire broke out at the accommodation section of the Christiana Hotel yesterday afternoon.

Spokesperson Pelonomi Makau says all eight of the hotel’s rooms were burned but fortunately the two guests booked in were not present at the time and there were no injuries.
Makau says the cause of the fire is not yet known. She also could not provide a cost estimate but said it sounds as if the entire accommodation section may have burnt down.
