Lack of clarity on Northern Cape drought status─── SABRINA DEAN 13:54 Wed, 20 Jan 2016
Kimberley - It is not yet clear whether or not the provincial drought declaration notice signed by Northern Cape Premier, Sylvia Lucas, in December last year has been officially gazetted.
This after the DA issued a statement accusing provincial Government of causing irreparable damage to the agriculture sector due to administrative bungles.
The party claims the declaration has not yet been published in the Government Gazette. It states officials have blamed the delay on new business requirements set by government printing, but says this is unacceptable as officials had been notified of these changes.

OFM News is still awaiting a response from provincial government to confirm the current status of the declaration.
Agri Northern Cape General Manager, Henning Myburgh, has meanwhile confirmed to OFM News that Lucas signed the provincial drought declaration on December 18.Sabrina Dean/OFM News
