Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Minister, Thoko Didiza, says the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a budget cut of about R1.89 billion.
Didiza was briefing parliament on her departments budget cuts. She adds the cut affects food distribution, land redistribution, and restitution.
Didiza says, relating to land acquisition, no new projects will be considered this financial year. However, her department will ensure that evaluations relating to land restitution go ahead.
Didiza says budget cuts will impact the rural social infrastructure.
