Mercedes want to build on momentum at Hungaroring─── MORGAN PIEK 14:12 Fri, 17 Jul 2020
Mercedes want to build on their momentum during this weekends’ third round in Formula 1 with the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Valtteri Bottas won the Austrian Grand Prix and his teammate and reigning world champion, Lewis Hamilton, claimed the honours last weekend at the Styrian Grand Prix.
The circuit has moved to Budapest this week and Hamilton says the momentum is a major plus, but they still need to perform.
“It’s naturally different from last week’s circuit being that here it’s not a power demanding circuit, it’s more about the downforce efficiency.
“So if you look at previous years we’ve been here, Red Bull have generally gone well. They tend to do even better on circuits like this and Monaco where it’s all about the downforce package.
“So it will definitely close up the whole field and it’s going to be a real challenge I think, a good battle. We already saw some great performance from them in practice in Austria, and I think they are still very strong in the race – I think here even more so. So we really need to bring our A-game this weekend.”
Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix at Hungaroring gets underway at 15:10.
Meanwhile, Potchefstroom’s Brad Binder will make his long-awaited MotoGP debut on Sunday afternoon in the Spanish Grand Prix, with this race in Jerez de la Frontera starting at 14:00.
