The 25-year-old from Potchefstroom earned a very respectable 13th place finish during his debut on Sunday in the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.

At one stage in the race, Binder, was riding in eighth but dropped back to 18th after a mistake on turn four.

Speaking of his debut outing in the top series the motorcycling, Binder says that is just a short amount of time he has learnt a lot.

“The amount I’ve learnt is incredible.

“Just to give you an idea – every single time I go out on track I come back in and I’ve learnt another three or four things that really help me.

“It’s unbelievable the steps that you make, and just to pick up on these small things that make such a huge difference.

“The heat is incredible. On the MotoGP bike, the heat coming from the engine from the guys in front of you, it’s hectic. When you’re sitting behind the people it feels like it is 10 degrees hotter.

“When I was with the guys it felt good and it was just lovely to sit with them and see what they are doing.

“Unfortunately I messed it up on Sunday, but better luck next time. I am sure that we will get it right.”

This weeks’ Andalusia Grand Prix will also take place in Jerez and will start 14:00 on Sunday afternoon.
