Iron Mike set for return to the ring─── MORGAN PIEK 08:07 Fri, 24 Jul 2020
The former heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson, will be making a return to the ring for an exhibition fight.
Iron Mike, who is now 54-year-old and was one of the most aggressive and feared boxers of all-time, will take on the ex-four weight division world champion Roy Jones Jr.
The pair will face each other in a 12 round bout in Los Angeles.
Tyson’s last fight ended in a defeat to the Irishman, Kevin McBride, in 2005, while Jones who himself is over 50, has not fought since beating Scott Sigmon in 2018.
Tyson said that age does not matter and that he landed more punches than what he received.
"It's because I can do it, and I believe other people believe they can do it too
"Just because we are 54, it doesn't mean that we have to start a new career and our lives are totally over.
"Not when you feel as beautiful as I do, and I'm sure that other people feel the same way.
"I never took that many punches. After the last fight I had, I left and I lived my life, and I've been through some experiences, and now I'm back here.
"I feel like I took better care of my body and my state of mind than most of the fighters before me that retired and came back."
The bout is set to take place on 12 September in the City of Angels.
