It's round four of the Formula 1 world championship with the British Grand Prix taking place at the iconic Silverstone, and there has been drama even before the qualifying got underway.

The Mexican driver, Sergio Perez, will however not be competing this weekend.

The Racing Point driver has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been removed from the grid in order to self-isolate for the next 10 days.

FIA race director, Michael Masi, explains that they have contingency plans in place to make provision for reserve drivers.

“A number of teams have reserve drivers who are listed throughout the year.

“We're working with the team that will be activated in the morning.

“They will make an approach to the FIA and based on the circumstances we will approve such a change.

“That driver would then be able to continue on for the rest of the weekend.”

The German driver, Nico Hulkenberg, is set to make a shock return to F1 as Perez’s replacement.

Sunday’s race in Northamptonshire is set to start at 15:10.
