For the South African rider, Brad Binder, it will be his first home race in the elite class.

Last week the Red Bull KTM rider captured the imagination of the country by winning the Czech Grand Prix, to become the first South African rider to win in the class, and also earned his team their first-ever dry race victory.

Binder is excited about racing on his home track in the elite class for the first time and says he normally does well in Spielburg.

Binder is realistic about the 1000 cc bike is a different beast Spielburg.

“Well, I’ve always done well at Spielburg, but, I have never been there on a MotoGP bike.

“Every time I arrive at a new track with the MotoGP bike, it’s almost like the whole layout changes.

“Your whole line choice is so different, your braking markers and we almost going to be carrying a 100k’s extra power now as well.”

Sunday afternoons’ race at the Red Bull Ring will get underway at 14:00.
