Binder feeling less pressure ahead of Spielberg─── MORGAN PIEK 13:35 Fri, 14 Aug 2020
South Africa’s Brad Binder will be targeting more of the same during this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg.
The rider who was the Czech Grand Prix last week and turned 25-years-old on Tuesday admits that he has been a crazy week.
Spielberg will be Binder’s first home race in the elite class, on a track when he won in Moto2 on his birthday last year.
Binder says that he feels less pressure going into this weeks’ race.
“To best honest, in a way, I almost feel less pressure now”, said the Potchefstroom-born rider.
“It almost feels like you put so much pressure on yourself and there is so much uncertainty over if you are even going to get it right. It’s your big goal and that’s what you are always working towards.
“I had absolutely no idea that it would be after three races.
“Coming into this weekend obviously I would love to have a fantastic race and a positive weekend overall for Red Bull or KTM because it is their home Grand Prix.
“In a way, it’s my home Grand Prix as well because unfortunately, I haven’t had one.
“If there is anyone over there in South Africa ready to try and get MotoGP back, please get started because that would be great.”
Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix gets underway at 14:00.
