FS and Proteas legends delighted about netball return─── MORGAN PIEK 14:26 Wed, 23 Sep 2020
The Proteas and Free State legend, Karla Pretorius, has welcomed the 2020 Telkom Netball League taking place in Bloemfontein next month.
Pretorius, who now plays her netball in Australia is delighted sport will be making a return to the court.
The tournament, which is normally played over six weeks, will be crammed into just two weeks, and it will be played in a bio-bubble.
Speaking to OFM Sport from Down-under, Pretorius, said the team that adapts best to the bio-safe zone will do well.
“The players will enter the bio-bubble on 8 October, with the tournament commencing on the 14th.
“It’s wonderful that it will be taking place there in Bloemfontein.
“I think with it being played in a bubble, and the fact that it will be played over two weeks, it will be the team that can adapt the best that will eventually come out on top.
“It’s just great news that the players in South Africa are been given an opportunity to play.”
Another legend of the game in the Free State and South Africa, Maryka Holtzhausen, in her turn feels that the Crinums should enjoy the home-ground advantage even if the tournament will take place in a bubble.
“Netball SA has actually done a great job to be able to make this happen, especially taking the current circumstances into account.
“Every team is going to be out to win it and showcase what they have been doing in what was about a yearlong preseason.
“I think Crinums will still have the home ground advantage although it will be played in a bubble.”
The teams will enter the bubble on 8 October and the tournament itself will be played from the 14th to 27th at the Mangaung Indoor Sports Complex.
