Bloemfontein’s Wade Blaauw and Charan Moore of Ladybrand claimed South African Cross Country Motorcycle Championship titles over the weekend in Mid-Illovo in KwaZulu-Natal.

Moore took the Moto1 honours, while Blaauw in his turn won the seniors title to be crowned the overall champion for 2020.

Blaauw told OFM Sport that being able to win a national title on the same day as his good friend Moore was special.

“I have been working at it for a while now and everything just seemed to work out this weekend.

“The pain will go away, but I am happy that everything worked out for us.

“Charan and I are great friends and being able to win a championship on the same day was a fantastic feeling.

“Let’s hope that we can repeat it one day, but it was really great and I am super happy.”

Moore shared the same sentiments about with a national title alongside his good friend.

“I've been involved in the sport for my entire life, and being able to reach the pinnacle and have the number one plate and that SA Championship really means a lot.

“Also to do it with Wade, two Free Staters. I grew up around Wade. He was kind of at his prime when I started my racing.

“For us to win a championship in the same year is extra special.”

While Blaauw admitted that the body is still a bit sore, he may well be in action again during the South African MotoX Nationals at Tempe in Bloemfontein on Saturday and Sunday.
