Wayde to run the shorter sprints in Potch─── MORGAN PIEK 08:16 Tue, 10 Nov 2020
The 400m world record holder and Olympic champion, Wayde van Niekerk, will be in action again on Tuesday evening at the Kenneth McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom.
The sprint sensation from Bloemfontein will, however, not be competing in the 400, 200, or 100m events.
Instead, he will be stepping into somewhat unchartered territory when he takes the track in the rather usual 60 and 150m sprints.
The last time Van Niekerk ran in the 150m was back in 2011 when he won the event in a time of 15.89 seconds.
Last week Van Niekerk won the 400m in Potchefstroom in a time of 45.89 seconds.
Van Niekerk will be on the track in the 60m sprint at 16:20, and at 17:50 he will be running in the 150m.
