The Spanish superstar has been out of action since the opening race of the 2020 season when he broke his arm during a fall.

Following three operations it was hoped that he would be back in the saddle, but his return has been postponed.

Following his crash in 2020, he underwent surgery three times in order to get back on track.

The 28-year-old is also set to miss next week's Doha Grand Prix as well and he will see a specialist on 12 April.

Márquez says after consulting with his medical team, he has taken the decision to delay his eagerly anticipated return.

"After the last check-up with the medical team, they have advised me not to participate in the two Qatar races.

"So, we will continue with the recovery to return to compete as soon as possible."

Sunday's Qatar Grand Prix at the Losail International Circuit in Doha gets underway at 19:00.
