Back-to-back wins for 'Thriller Miller'─── MORGAN PIEK 09:04 Mon, 17 May 2021
Australia's Jack Miller raced to back-to-back wins on the MotoGP circuit by winning the French Grand Prix at Le Mans.
Despite not one, but two long-lap penalties, the 26-year-old Miller managed to beat the local rider, Johann Zarco by 3.97 seconds to the checkered flag, in a race that experienced torrential rain.
The log-leader, Fabio Quartararo, crossed the line in third.
Miller says luck was on his side to ultimately double his career wins in back-to-back races.
“When I saw the penalty, I didn't want to believe it.
“It's the old French speeding fines. I'm used to getting a few of them but normally they come in the mail.
“I was trying to do the maths in my head, and if anyone knows me and my maths, that's very difficult,"
“It was a hectic race and it's amazing, I didn't expect this.
“Back-to-back wins. I've doubled my career total of victories in two weeks, so it's pretty nice.”
The Potchefstroom-born South African, Brad Binder, finished in 13th.
