Verstappen claims third straight win | News Article
Max Verstappen - F1

The Dutch driver, Max Verstappen, has won this third race in a row by winning Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Rings in Spielberg.

It was the back-to-back wins for the 23-year-old at the track which is also the home of his Red Bull team after he claimed last week's Styrian Grand Prix as well.

Verstappen was unstoppable for a second week in a row and this has saw him open a 32-point gap at the top of the drivers’ championship with 182 points, while the reigning champion, Lewis Hamilton, moved up to 150 after finishing in fourth.

Verstappen lauded the efforts by the team which resulted in their claiming a fourth straight win.

“It's incredible to be honest. The car was on rails. I mean on every tyre set we put on, it was really enjoyable to drive.

“I’m a bit amazed myself how today went. I didn’t expect it to be like this. Incredible job by everyone to deliver something like this.

“Of course, when you go into the weekend everybody sees you as the favourite, but it’s never easy to actually always deliver what we did today.”

Valtteri Bottas finished in second, with Lando Norris in third.

Sergio Perez won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on 6 June, while Verstappen has taken the top step on the podium at the French, Styrian and Austrian Grand Prix’s, and this has resulted in Red Bull leading the team standings on 286 points.

Next week it's over to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.
