The athletics competition at the Olympic Games in Tokyo gets underway this weekend.

The Commonwealth Games champion is tipped as one of the favourites to claim the Olympic gold, and his African record of 9.85 seconds is the second fastest time over 100m this year.

Simbine says that he is more experience now and ready to begin his Olympic challenge.

“I'm more mature right now. I've grown and I've matured as a sprinter.

“I've been in finals, world championships final, I've just missed out on medals and I've taken in so many conversions with the greats.

“So, I've done the best I could do.”

The prelims in the men’s 100m sprint starts on Saturday morning at 4:35.
