I'm really just overwhelmed - Coetzee─── MORGAN PIEK 13:56 Mon, 30 Aug 2021

Bloemfontein’s Louzanne Coetzee is over the moon with her silver medal she won early today in the T11 1500m at the Paralympics in Tokyo.
Coetzee set a new personal best and African Record to clinch silver behind Mexico’s Monica Olivia Rodriguez Saavedra, who won the gold in a world record time of 4:35.40.
Estean Badenhorst was Coetzee guide in the 1500m and he was absolutely superb in preventing Coetzee from getting boxed and he also controlled the pace exceptionally well.
Coetzee told OFM Sport that she couldn’t have asked for a better race.
“It was really a privilege coming second to the new world record holder.
“I don't think I could ask for a better or a more honest race. I'm very happy and very thankful for the privilege to be here. Adding the medal to that is just a bonus.
“Especially after the pandemic I am just very thankful for good health, being able to train and having access to training.
“I'm really just overwhelmed with joy and the support from home. I couldn't have asked for a better support system. I also could have asked for a better guide, better training partner or a better family.
“I'm really overwhelmed by all the support, especially also from the media. Everyone has been super supportive and I feel so fortunate for that.”
On Sunday Coetzee will compete in the marathon. This time see will make us of Claus Kempen as her guide. Together the pair have completed the Soweto, Berlin and London Marathons.
Coetzee will be receiving for cash bonus of R220 000 from the Ministry of Sport as a reward for her efforts.
