It was an end of an area in motorsport on Sunday with the season-ending Valencia Grand Prix on the MotoGP circuit.
While the race was won by Pecco Bagnaia, the attention was only on the greatest rider of all-time, Valentino Rossi.
The Bagnio nine-time world champion, Rossi, rode in his very last race after a career spanning 25 years and 26 seasons.
The 42-year-old completed the race in 10th.
Already a legend, Rossie was inducted into the MotoGP Hall of Fame and is now an official MotoGP Legend.
The nine-time World Champion was surprised with the honour at the FIM MotoGP Awards Ceremony, adding to a roll call of celebrations throughout the day as he hangs up his racing leathers.
Rossi said that it was an unforgettable day following a long and stellar career that changed the face of MotoGP as we know it.
“I always think of this day like a nightmare, because it’s the end of a long career and I thought it would be in Valencia but in the end, I enjoyed it a lot so I have to thank everyone, everyone who has worked with me, the whole paddock, the other riders.
“It was an unforgettable day and I enjoyed it. It was a long career, and always a pleasure.”
During his career, Rossi started 432 Grand Prix’s with 235 podiums across all classes.
