Running in lane four, Simbine, clocked a time on 10.31 seconds following a slow start to claim the national title.

Bradley Nkona took the silver in 10.34 seconds, while Neo Mosebi took the bronze.

Emile Erasmus was disqualified at the start for being out of the blocks too quick.

After winning his sixth national title, Simbine, said that he has silenced his critics.

“Everyone was saying 'Where's Akani? Where's Akani?

“Today I showed I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere.

“Mentally it has been a rough couple of weeks, with everyone saying 'Akani is gone', but for me it was about trusting my coach and our long-term plan.”

In the women's 100m sprint, Carina Horn won the national title in 11.54 seconds, while Phindle Kubheka claimed silver in 11.61 seconds and Tamzin Thomas of North West took bronze in 11.69 seconds.
