SA confident of medals in Budapest─── MORGAN PIEK 08:32 Fri, 18 Aug 2023

Team South Africa are confident that they will be bringing back medals from the World Athletics Championships in Hungary.
The last two World Champs were not good for South Africa with no athlete managing to win medals at the events in Doha, Qatar and Eugene, Oregan.
There are several hopefuls in the South African squad which includes sprinters Akani Simbine and Wayde van Niekerk as well as the shot putter, Kyle Blignaut.
The Olympian, Blignaut, said they are confident that they can medal in Budapest.
“I feeling like that team has a nice chance to bring back a couple of medals, said Blignaut.
“We have Akani Simbine in the 100m, we have Wayde van Niekerk and Zakithi Nene in the 400m.
“I also feel that in the throwing events we have picked up quite a bit, but I don't know if we are in medal contention yet in all of them.
“We are up there - Victor Hogan is looking good in the discus and I feel like my shot put can get me close a medal or into the final, so we're have to see. But I feel we have a good team this year.”
The World Championships gets underway on Saturday and Blignaut will be in action from 10:30 in the men’s shot put qualification.
