The results of the scans that came through on Monday spelt bad news for the gymnast as her campaign in Paris is officially over. The silver lining is that she does not need surgery to repair the damage.
She will, however, need to rest her injured foot and undergo rehabilitation. A team of specialists have confirmed that no surgery will be required and they are confident of full recovery after the appropriate rehabilitation.
Rooskrantz and the sprinter Akani Simbine were the official flag bearers for South Africa during the opening ceremony and there were high hopes that she would win a medal.
