“A team of specialists have confirmed that no surgery will be required and they are confident of a full recovery after the appropriate rehabilitation.”

It has been confirmed that the South African gymnast, Caitlyn Rooskrantz, is out of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris due to an injury.

Rooskrantz, who was competing in her second Olympics, sustained a foot injury during a floor routine on Sunday and was rushed to the hospital for an MRI scan. On Sunday she was also forced to withdraw from the all-around competition due to the injury.

The results of the scans that came through on Monday spelt bad news for the gymnast as her campaign in Paris is officially over. The silver lining is that she does not need surgery to repair the damage.

She will, however, need to rest her injured foot and undergo rehabilitation. A team of specialists have confirmed that no surgery will be required and they are confident of full recovery after the appropriate rehabilitation.

Rooskrantz and the sprinter Akani Simbine were the official flag bearers for South Africa during the opening ceremony and there were high hopes that she would win a medal.
