Controversial Bastianini win secures Ducati the Constructors Championship─── ILSE SMALBERGER 14:40 Sun, 22 Sep 2024
Bastianini’s win has secured Ducati the 2024 constructors’ championship.
Ducati’s Enea Bastianini barged past Jorge Martin on the final lap to win the MotoGP Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
The win was controversial after Bastianini forced Martin off the track into Turn 4 with only few metres to go. However, for his second place Martin still collected valuable points in his bid for the title after his chief rival Francesco Bagnaia crashed with six laps to go. He is now 24 points ahead of Bagnaia.

Gresini’s Marc Marquez picked up the final spot on the podium, having started the race from seventh on the grid after a qualifying crash. Fourth went to VR46’s Marco Bezzecchi, while Franco Morbidelli completed the top five for Pramac.
A crash for South Africa’s Brad Binder on lap two and a similar mistake for Pedro Acosta on lap nine meant KTM returned empty-handed from Misano. Binder continued to race after his crash, but finished in 19th place.
Action moves to Asia
After today’s race, Martin still leads the championship title race with 341 points. Bagnaia is breathing down his neck on 317 points, with Bastianini in third place with 282 points. Marquez is only one point behind Bastianini with Binder in fifth place on 165 points.
The action moves to Asia next week for the Indonesian MotoGP, which will take place in Lombok.
