The Toyota Cheetahs prop, OX Nche, is expected to plead guilty this on Wednesday evening to a charge of foul play when he appears before the Guinness Pro14 citing commission.

The Springbok was shown a yellow card by Nigel Owens against Leinster last week for a late charge on the winger, Fergus McFadden.

Nche has a clean record and seldom even concedes a penalty, and this should count in his favour.

The coach, Franco Smith, told OFM Sport that they will plead guilty to a yellow card offence.

“Ox has a squeaky clean record, and we are not going to plead guilty to a red card, we will admit that that is was a yellow card offence.

“We definitely think that he made contact with the shoulder first and due to the impact that maybe led to some contact with the head of the player.

“McFadden finished playing the game and showed no ill-effects from the impact.

“We did receive letters from the Leinster doctor and medical staff, so hopefully we can present a case that with just keep it at a yellow card.”

Nche has been reported by the Citing Commissioner in charge for infringement of Law 9.13 – A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously. Dangerous tackling includes, but is not limited to, tackling or attempting to tackle an opponent above the line of the shoulders even if the tackle starts below the line of the shoulders.

Additionally, he has also been reported for infringement of Law 9.25 – A player must not intentionally charge or obstruct an opponent who has just kicked the ball.

The hearing will take place via video conference and the Disciplinary Committee will comprise of Sheriff Kathrine Mackie, Roddy MacLeod and Jennifer Rae, who are all from Scotland.

The lock Justin Basson and centre Nico Lee are currently serving suspensions.

Nche’s hearing will take place at 18:15 on Wednesday evening.
